Maui is starting off with beautiful sunshine this morning, with clouds expected to move in by this afternoon. There’s a chance of showers later, although it looks like there might not be much rain. A south swell is affecting Maui today, and wave sizes vary depending on the beach so see details below.

Northwest: 8.0

Although not necessarily big, waves are present in some areas, especially out on the points, while conditions look calm and inviting inside the bays. Kapalua Bay is particularly nice this morning with clear water and smaller surf. Sunshine is expected through the morning, with increasing clouds and a chance of showers later.

*Honolua Bay temporarily has no restroom facilities. Please avoid if possible. Do not leave waste in this area.

Ka’anapali: 6.0

Surf is up a bit with waves surging in areas, especially south of Black Rock. Along Kahekili Beach Park, the waves are smaller and snorkeling may still be nice if we thoughtfully avoid any waves, though higher surf could develop later. Sunshine is expected through the morning with clouds and possible rain by this afternoon.

South Shore: 4.5

Waves are breaking along most beaches, with the smallest surf found around the Kamaole beaches. Conditions become more hazardous farther south into Makena, where surf is stronger. Beautiful sunny skies are overhead now, with clouds and a slight chance of showers moving in later today.
