It’s a beautiful Turtle Tuesday on Maui. The waves are dissipating and winds will increase this afternoon. Excellent snorkeling can still be found. See zone-by-zone details below and check the live cameras in your emailed report, as conditions can shift throughout the day.

Northwest: 7.0

Honolua Bay is offering nice wind protection with mostly calm conditions. Showers are moving through this morning. Extremely strong winds are causing hazardous currents near the point and outside the bay. Kapalua Bay looks good with mostly small waves, though currents are strong near the point. Napili Bay has more wave action, just enough to affect snorkeling, with strong currents.

*Honolua Bay temporarily has no restroom facilities. Do not leave waste in this area.

Ka’anapali: 7.5

The south face of Black Rock is blocking most of the wind, creating a calm area with good visibility. Currents become extremely strong near and beyond the point. Kahekili Beach is looking really nice this morning, with winds possibly calming before picking up again and making the sea rough. Mix of sun and clouds today.

South Shore: 8.0

Perfect morning to head to the beach. Come see us at The Snorkel Store across from the lifeguard tower at Kamaole 1, then get out and enjoy. All three Kamaole Beaches are the calmest. Waves are a little bigger along Wailea Beach, but Ulua has potential and Makena Landing is starting to improve. Winds are expected to increase this by this afternoon, which could make the water rough.

A beautiful Maui beach day with a mix of sunshine and clouds. Calm conditions can be found, though rising surf and strong winds are expected as the day goes on. Keep an eye out for changing conditions and have a lovely day!

Northwest: 8.0

Conditions are calmest and clearest inside Honolua Bay and Kapalua Bay. However, currents become very strong near the points and outside the bays. Napili Bay is seeing some rising surf that’s not necessarily large but is contributing to stronger currents. Strong winds persist, and some cloud cover is likely.

*Honolua Bay temporarily has no restroom facilities. Do not leave waste in this area.

Ka’anapali: 7.5

Things are looking good this morning, with mostly small waves surging onto the shoreline. Kahekili Beach is especially nice early, though conditions could become rough later as winds pick up. The south face of Black Rock may offer some wind protection, but currents are stronger and waves could begin pushing toward the rock. Expect mostly sunny skies.

South Shore: 6.5

Light winds and morning sunshine to start the day. While big waves aren’t expected, the surf has picked up and will rise more throughout the day. The Kamaole Beaches have the smallest waves the longest. Ulua Beach and Makena Landing have potential this morning if the surf stays down. If waves begin to break, it’s best to avoid those areas. Strong winds this afternoon will likely make conditions rough.
