The best snorkeling on Maui is along the South Shore this morning. Ka’anapali should improve as the winds change as well. Check out the Snapshots below.

Northwest: 6.0

Despite strong winds, Honolua Bay and the innermost part of Kapalua Bay have a smooth ocean surface. However, currents are very strong farther from the shore. Winds are extremely strong, and seas are rough, with currents also particularly strong along the points, and outside of the bays. Scattered showers are expected to clear this afternoon.

Ka’anapali: 7.5

—> Because of ongoing relief efforts, please be extremely mindful in this zone.

The south face of Black Rock is offering great wind protection and a nice area of calm water. However, currents are very strong, and seas are rough beyond the rock tip. Kahekili Beach Park should improve as the sun rises and the wind shifts a bit. Currents are very strong in deeper water here as well. Morning clouds are expected to clear up.

South Shore: 8.5

Conditions are very calm and clear this morning along the Kamaole beaches, Ulua Beach, Wailea Beach, Makena Landing, and most spots in between. Strong winds this afternoon will likely make seas too rough. Sunshine is expected, although clouds could form later as the wind gains strength.
