It’s a beautiful Maui beach day. The surf is up a bit out of the south, and while not huge, waves are affecting some areas. Winds will likely shift directions a few times before settling into an onshore flow, which may lead to choppy seas. Take a look at the live cameras on the emailed report for updates throughout the day.

Northwest: 7.5

Waves are small inside the bays, although Napili Bay is catching some elevated surf. Kapalua Bay has the easiest access for snorkeling and is looking really nice. Keep in mind, currents become very strong out near the points. Clouds and wind will likely increase this afternoon.

*Honolua Bay temporarily has no restroom facilities. Please avoid if possible. Do not leave waste in this area.

Ka’anapali: 7.0

Beautiful and sunny with light winds this morning. Waves are not large but more noticeable in some areas, especially south of Black Rock. Currents are strong near the point. Kahekili Beach Park has smaller waves, though some sand may be stirred up near shore. Snorkeling should be enjoyable with thoughtful entry and exit. Afternoon winds and clouds could make the water a bit bumpier.

South Shore: 5.0

Lovely beach day with sunshine and light winds this morning. Waves have picked up, with the smallest surf along the Kamaole Beach Parks and the most hazardous conditions in Makena. Some areas may still have brown water from recent rain, so look for clear spots. Surf is expected to gradually drop as the day goes on, though onshore winds this afternoon may create choppy conditions. Clouds are likely to increase later as well.
