Snorkeling conditions around Maui are improving as strong winds begin to ease. Conditions will likely shift a few times throughout the day. Keep an eye out for changes, and enjoy the beauty out there.

Northwest: 7.0

Passing showers and strong winds this morning, but Kapalua Bay and Honolua Bay are still calm and clear. Though it’s important not to swim out too far as currents become extremely strong near the points and outside the bays. Strong winds, cloud cover and scattered showers may linger.

*Honolua Bay temporarily has no restroom facilities. Do not leave waste in this area.

Ka’anapali: 8.5

Breezy winds are expected to ease briefly before returning. Kahekili Beach Park is looking good this morning, with clear water and small waves, though currents are strong in deeper areas. Conditions may become rough again if the wind shifts. The south face of Black Rock is looking great offering wind protection near shore, but currents remain strong near and beyond the point.

South Shore: 8.0

Excellent conditions early today, with sunshine and light wind. Small shoreline waves are present but easy to avoid with care. Kamaole I, II, and III are looking good, along with Ulua Beach, Wailea Beach, and Makena Landing. Surf may build later, and as afternoon winds return, the water will become quite choppy.
