Beautiful Maui beach day with lighter winds and mostly sunny skies, though clouds may increase this afternoon. Calm waters in Ka’anapali and the South Shore. High Surf Advisory for shores exposed to northerly swells, with hazardous waves in the Northwest.

Northwest: 2.0

Waves are expected to rise throughout the day, becoming extremely dangerous sometime today. A High Surf Advisory is in effect, with wave heights potentially reaching over 15 feet. Kapalua Bay is fairly calm early this morning, though conditions are likely to change quickly. Currents are already very strong near the points and outside the bay. Honolua Bay has brown water. Sunny skies with increasing clouds expected this afternoon.

Ka’anapali: 8.0

Amazing beach day with light winds, and snorkeling conditions look excellent this morning. Although unlikely, the northerly swell could still increase enough to bring hazardous waves to Ka’anapali, so it’s something to keep an eye on. Kahekili Beach Park is calm, though waves might build later. The south face of Black Rock is also great this morning, currents are very strong out beyond the point.

South Shore: 8.5

Beautiful beach and ocean conditions this morning with light winds. While there are some waves, so far they’re looking pretty small. The three Kamaole Beaches, Ulua Beach, Wailea Beach, and beyond are looking fantastic. While afternoon winds could roughen seas, conditions should stay pleasant for most of the day. Expect sunshine with clouds building later this afternoon.
