    We get you #TURTLEREADY

Maui is sitting right at the edge of a passing sto Maui is sitting right at the edge of a passing storm system today, bringing a mix of sunshine with a real chance of showers at times. Winds are lighter early this morning, though southerly winds are expected to strengthen later and make ocean conditions rough and choppy. Conditions may shift several times through the day, so it’s important to keep an eye on changing weather and water conditions.

Northwest: 2.5

The innermost area of Kapalua Bay is fairly calm early this morning, though there is a fine line where currents are very strong if you swim out too far, especially near the points. Surf is expected to build through the day and could become extremely hazardous. Passing showers are possible, and any rainfall may lead to runoff, particularly around Honolua Bay.

Ka'anapali: 4.0

Southerly winds are already making the ocean unsettled here. Black Rock is rough this morning with strong, fast-moving currents. Kahekili is slightly calmer by comparison, though currents remain strong and conditions are expected to become choppier as winds increase. Expect a mix of sunshine and clouds with a higher chance of passing showers today.

South Shore: 4.0

Winds are lighter this morning, though conditions are still rough overall. One- to two-foot waves are already present and are kicking up sand, reducing visibility in many areas. While the waves are not large, they are enough to make snorkeling difficult. Southerly winds are expected to strengthen, making conditions increasingly choppy and hazardous later today. Showers remain a real possibility.
