THE SKINNY

Amazing day for snorkeling on Maui. All three zones have areas of excellence. A small south swell may bring increasing waves, please stay aware of changes. Breezy winds are expected this afternoon, which could make things rough in some areas.

Northwest: 8.5

Snorkeling is excellent inside the bays. Kapalua Bay and Honolua Bay are calm, clear, and offering some of the best visibility around. Conditions should stay steady through most of the day, though strong winds may keep clouds overhead. Please be cautious not to swim out too far, as currents become extremely strong near and beyond the points.

*Honolua Bay temporarily has no restroom facilities. Do not leave waste in this area.

Ka’anapali: 9.0

Wonderful conditions along Kahekili Beach Park, with calm, clear water and light wind this morning. Visibility is excellent, though currents are strong in deeper water. The south face of Black Rock is also super clear, though currents become strong near and beyond the point. Afternoon winds may bring clouds and rougher water later today.

South Shore: 8.5

Gorgeous day with sunshine and light wind this morning. Kamaole I, II, and III, along with Ulua Beach, Wailea Beach, and Makena Landing, are great options. Waves could start to pick up, and winds are expected to return, which could make things too rough. It’s the perfect day to stop by The Snorkel Store then head across the street to Kamaole I.
