Maui’s snorkel spots are starting strong, serving up sunshine, small surf, smooth seas, and sweet visibility in several spots. Some sites seem spectacular, others still slightly stirred. Light winds and sunny skies are expected, though winds could pick up and make the sea a bit rougher later on.
Although winds are expected to be breezy today, ocean conditions inside the bays are very nice. Honolua Bay and Kapalua Bay are especially calm and clear this morning. Be cautious near and beyond the points, where currents are extremely strong. Surf may begin to rise later. Mostly sunny skies are expected, with the chance of some clouds.
*Honolua Bay temporarily has no restroom facilities. Do not leave waste in this area.
Ka’anapali: 8.0
Kahekili Beach Park (Airport Beach) is looking extremely nice this morning. There are some surging waves, so take care entering and exiting the water. The south face of Black Rock is also looking good, but surging waves are more prevalent here, and currents are very strong out near and beyond the point. Mostly sunny skies, with shifting winds that may cause choppy water later.
South Shore: 8.0
Conditions are looking really good this morning at all three Kamaole Beaches, especially toward the south ends, as well as at Ulua Beach and Makena Landing. Waves are smaller overall but still need to be avoided. Occasional larger sets are still possible. Sunshine and light winds are expected, though things could get bumpy later depending on how the swell and wind pattern play out.
