Maui is seeing a slight drop in surf today, though waves may still be hazardous in certain areas. Southerly winds are expected to increase this afternoon, likely leading to choppier ocean conditions. Hazy skies are sticking around due to vog drifting over from the eruption on Hawaiʻi Island. For more details, visit https://vog.ivhhn.org
Waves are smaller and more manageable today, though there are still some coming through. Napili Bay is more exposed, while Kapalua Bay is calm and looking nice this morning. Conditions should be pretty good if you stay in the more protected areas. Currents are strong farther out near the points, and there’s potential for occasional bigger waves. There’s a slight chance of tropical showers later.
*Honolua Bay temporarily has no restroom facilities. Please avoid if possible. Do not leave waste in this area.
Ka’anapali: 7.0
There are still some waves in spots, but they’re much smaller today. The south face of Black Rock is looking really nice this morning. Keep in mind that currents become very strong out on the point. Kahekili Beach Park is also clear, avoid any shore-breaking waves when getting in and out, and it should be good. Winds are expected to pick up out of the south, which could make things a little bumpy, and there’s a higher chance of tropical showers later this afternoon.
South Shore: 6.5
Surf has dropped today, though some waves are still making their way through. The Kamaole beaches have the smallest waves and are look more inviting this morning. Occasional sets are rolling in, especially in Makena, which remains the most hazardous. Conditions could turn choppy this afternoon if south winds pick up as expected. Take a look before heading out since things can change.
