Happy Aloha Friday! It’s a breezy cloudy morning and the heavy rain is letting up, though some rain is still expected today. A Brown Water Advisory has been issued for the Island of Maui due to recent heavy rainfall. The Hawaii Department of Health advises beach users to stay out of waters that appear brown or murky. See the snapshots below for more details.

Northwest: 2.5

The Northwest Zone is seeing elevated surf and brown water as runoff continues to flow from streams into the bays. Honolua Bay is especially murky, and it's best to avoid the area today. Kapalua Bay is also experiencing waves and poor water conditions. While most of the heavy showers have passed, it will take some time for the water to clear. We recommend staying out of the ocean until conditions improve.

Ka’anapali: 5.0

Waves and winds are affecting both Black Rock and Kahekili beach this morning. Watch for any debris or murky water from recent heavy rainfall. We may see more rain today, but the sun should break through. Use caution at the beach today and never swim or snorkel if the water is murky. We will see a mix of clouds, sun and more rain showers are possible.

South Shore: 4.0

Kamaole Beach Park 1 and 2 are seeing the calmest conditions this morning, with the smallest waves. Farther south, Wailea Beach and Makena Landing are experiencing higher surf and choppy conditions, making visibility poor and ocean entry and exit very challenging. Watch for murky, brown water and avoid entering the ocean in these areas. Additional rainfall is possible today, with periods of heavy cloud cover.
