Happy Aloha Friday! It’s a spectacular morning on Maui, with a mix of sunshine and clouds to start the day. We may see passing rain showers on and off across different areas throughout the day. Snorkeling conditions are good across all three zones. Strong winds are already being felt in some areas. Small waves are still present but should ease as the day goes on. Check the snapshots below for more details.

Northwest: 8.0

The Northwest zone is seeing a mix of sunshine and clouds this morning. Kapalua Bay, Napili Bay, and Honolua Bay are looking excellent, with very calm conditions. Honolua Bay stream is flowing lightly, so avoid any murky water near the stream mouth. It’s already very windy, and the trade winds are expected to strengthen this afternoon. Staying within the protected areas is recommended, as currents will become stronger and more hazardous in deeper water beyond the points. We could see passing rain showers throughout the day.

Ka’anapali: 8.5

Kahekili Beach Park is looking excellent this morning, with clear, calm water to start the day. It will be windy today, and conditions are expected to become rougher later as the trade winds pick up. Black Rock should remain well protected, staying calm and clear for great snorkeling throughout the day. Be mindful not to venture past the point, as currents are very strong. We’ll see a mix of sunshine and clouds, with passing rain showers likely throughout the day.

South Shore: 7.5

Winds are light this morning along the South Shore, and most areas have calm, clear water. The Kamaole Beaches are excellent, along with Ulua Beach, as long as you avoid some small waves. Farther south in Makena and Wailea, the water is choppier, with waves to watch for that can make ocean entry and exit more difficult. Use extra caution if entering the water in these areas. It will be sunny today with possible rain showers happening through the day.
