Happy Aloha Friday on Maui! A High Surf Advisory i Happy Aloha Friday on Maui! A High Surf Advisory is in effect as swells from Hurricane Lowell begin to fill in. Winds and waves are expected to increase throughout the weekend as Hurricane Lowell passes south of the islands. Some areas are still calm this morning, but ocean conditions will become increasingly hazardous, especially in more exposed areas. Stay alert and monitor conditions closely, as they can change quickly.

Northwest: 4.0

It’s cloudy with some light rain in the Northwest Zone this morning, which should clear up. The innermost area of Honolua Bay is looking fairly calm, though it’s rough out on the point. There are patches of murky brown water from the stream. Steer clear of murky water. Kapalua Bay has some waves surging onto the beach this morning, and surf could increase as the day goes on. We’ll see sunshine today, but clouds and strong winds will be present.

Ka’anapali: 4.5

Waves are small and visibility is clear this morning at Black Rock and Kahekili Beach. There is still a window of time for snorkeling before conditions change too much. A High Surf Advisory is in effect, with waves expected to steadily increase and possibly become hazardous through the weekend. We will see strong afternoon winds later today, but plenty of sunshine. Use caution and watch for changing conditions.

South Shore: 3.0

Kamaole Beach 1 and 2 and Ulua Beach look the best this morning along the South Shore zone. Makena Landing and Wailea have rough and potentially hazardous conditions, with a High Surf Advisory in effect. Stronger afternoon winds combined with elevated surf may make some beaches too hazardous. Use caution and always assess conditions before entering the water. Morning skies will be sunny, but later in the afternoon, we could see light rain showers.
