Happy Aloha Friday on Maui! This morning, great snorkeling can be found in all three zones. Waves are starting to get bigger, mostly affecting the South Shore first, then Ka’anapali and up toward Napili as the day goes on. Please stay aware of changing conditions as surf and winds begin to increase.

Northwest: 8.0

Kapalua Bay and Honolua Bay are calm and clear this morning, offering clear water and good visibility. There’s a fine line where currents become extremely strong out near and beyond the points. Waves are expected to start picking up in Napili as the day goes on, and with strong winds continuing, conditions can change quickly. Clouds and scattered showers are also possible later today.

*Honolua Bay temporarily has no restroom facilities. Do not leave waste in this area.

Ka’anapali: 7.0

Kahekili Beach Park has excellent snorkeling this morning, with calm, clear water. The south face of Black Rock is also looking good, though currents are already stronger near and beyond the point. Waves are expected to rise throughout the day, so it’s important to keep an eye on changing conditions. Mostly sunny skies now, with increasing clouds and stronger winds expected this afternoon.

South Shore: 6.5

Ocean conditions are really nice this morning, especially at the Kamaole Beaches, which are calm and inviting. Waves are already picking up in Wailea and Makena, and wind and surf are expected to increase throughout the day. If waves are avoided, it could still be a good time to head out early, though conditions will likely become too rough later. Skies are mostly sunny now, with the possibility of clouds forming this afternoon.
