Light winds around Maui are creating ideal conditions for a beach day with umbrellas and chairs. While waves are still small this morning, a rising south swell will bring changes throughout the day. Exactly how much the surf builds remains to be seen, please stay aware as things shift.

Northwest: 8.5

Honolua Bay is incredibly calm and clear this morning and should stay nice throughout the day. Kapalua Bay is also starting off calm, with a slight chance of rising surf later on. Currents are stronger farther from shore near the points. Surf is expected to increase into the afternoon in Napili. Breezy winds continue, with a chance of scattered showers.

*Honolua Bay temporarily has no restroom facilities. Do not leave waste in this area.

Ka’anapali: 7.0

Light winds and mostly sunny skies are expected. The surf is beginning to rise, and while waves aren’t big, they’re expected to grow stronger. Kahekili Beach will likely stay calm the longest unless the swell fills in more than expected. The south face of Black Rock is also looking great early on, though currents are already strong near the point. Waves are surging higher on the shoreline, especially south of Black Rock

South Shore: 7.0

Mostly sunny skies are expected along with light winds. Waves are beginning to build, though they’re not expected to get huge. The Kamaole Beaches are the calmest this morning and will likely stay that way the longest. Surf is already picking up in Makena, where conditions will become the most hazardous. The swell should continue to fill in through the afternoon, with a few clouds possible later.
