Maui is starting the day under increasing clouds as a large storm system approaches. There is a high chance of rain today, with a Flood Watch in effect and the potential for heavy showers and thunderstorms, some already just offshore. Conditions may change quickly and rain could arrive suddenly, so give yourself extra time and drive cautiously once showers begin.

Northwest: 2.5

Hazardous ocean conditions continue. While smaller than yesterday, powerful waves, strong currents, and undertow remain present. With long lulls between set, larger waves are still coming. Kapalua Bay has slightly calmer water compared to surrounding areas, though currents are still strong. Rain, thunderstorms, and increasing winds are expected.

Ka'anapali: 8.0

Conditions are calm this morning, though weather is the main concern today. There is a high chance of rain, with the potential for heavy showers and thunderstorms moving in, possibly with little notice. The south face of Black Rock is calm early, while currents remain strong near and beyond the point. Kahekili has slightly more surf. Conditions may be workable early if rain holds off, though being in the water during heavy rain or thunderstorms is not recommended.

South Shore: 7.5

Calm water with small waves and light winds early this morning. Weather conditions are expected to deteriorate later, with rain likely and thunderstorms possible. The Kamaole beaches, Ulua Beach and Makena Landing are excellent until the rain starts. A Flood Watch is in effect, and conditions will change quickly once showers arrive.
