It’s a beautiful day across Maui. A High Surf Advi It’s a beautiful day across Maui. A High Surf Advisory is in effect due to hazardous waves affecting most areas. See details below.

Tropical Storm Lala is currently forecast to pass south of Maui, though there is still potential for heavy rain, flooding, strong winds, and more dangerous surf this weekend. Exact impacts will depend on the storm’s track. See the latest details here: www.weather.gov/hfo

Northwest: 4.5

Strong winds and hazardous conditions in areas. Honolua Bay is the calmest spot. It may be busy, and this is a fragile ecosystem, so please be mindful of others, tread lightly, mālama ʻāina, and pack out your trash. It's best to check conditions from the overlook before heading down. Kapalua Bay has a small area of calmer water, though waves will increase throughout the day and currents are already very strong near the points. Napili has dangerous waves and currents.

Ka'anapali: 1.5

High Surf Advisory. Beautiful beach day; however, we have extremely dangerous ocean conditions with incredibly powerful waves, strong currents, and undertow. Kahekili has slightly smaller waves, though conditions are still hazardous. We expect sunshine, with increasing clouds possible later. Snorkeling is not recommended.

South Shore: 1.5

High Surf Advisory. Beautiful sunshine with light wind this morning; dangerous surf is affecting the zone. Kamaole Beach Park 1 has the smallest surf and may be manageable for boogie boarding or body surfing if the waves don’t pick up more. If you’re unsure, ask the lifeguard. The most powerful, hazardous waves are affecting Makena and Wailea, though they will spread throughout the day.
