Maui starts the day with calm water in a few areas, but rising surf and strong winds are on the way. Conditions may change quickly, so stay aware and check the live beach cameras in the emailed report for real-time updates.

Northwest: 4.5

Rough conditions continue, with very strong winds, waves and hazardous currents. The calmest water is inside Kapalua Bay, where waves are smallest. Outside the bay and in more exposed areas like Napili, surf is up and currents are very strong. A mix of sunshine, clouds and possibly isolated showers today.

*Honolua Bay temporarily has no restroom facilities. Please avoid if possible. Do not leave waste in this area.

Ka’anapali: 6.0

The south face of Black Rock may offer a window of pleasant snorkeling this morning. Currents are already strong near the point. Waves are starting to pick up and conditions may become quite hazardous at some point. Kahekili is a windy now but could briefly improve before getting rough again. Stay aware, as the timing of the rising surf is hard to predict. It’s very windy today.

South Shore: 6.5

Early this morning, conditions are really nice, especially at the Kamaole beaches and Ulua Beach, where the water is clear and calm. Waves are expected to build throughout the day becoming very hazardous, so it’s important to stay alert. Makena will see waves first, with rising surf spreading across the zone. Keep an eye out, as the swell could grow significantly. Strong afternoon winds.
