As we head into another beautiful beach day, expect conditions similar to yesterday with elevated surf across all three snorkeling zones and slightly more wind. But don’t worry, there’s still plenty of sunshine on the west-facing shores of Maui, making it a great day to hit the beach.

Northwest: 5.5

The waves remain elevated in the northwest today, with sets rolling into Honolua and Kapalua Bay. Strong currents are pulling toward the outer bays, so stay cautious if you’re heading out. There’s plenty of sunshine to enjoy your beach day, but keep an eye on the skies, southerly winds might bring a touch of cloud cover this afternoon, along with the chance of an occasional shower.

Ka’anapali: 6.5

Ka‘anapali is also seeing elevated surf today, but the sun is shining for your beach day. Kahekili offers clear conditions near the reef, but be mindful when entering and exiting the water. Shore break waves can be hazardous. If you’re snorkeling at Black Rock, keep a safe distance from the rock, as waves are pushing toward it. Stay aware of stronger currents, especially near the tip and in deeper waters.

South Shore: 4.5

The south shore is also seeing elevated waves today, but don’t let that keep you from enjoying a beautiful beach day. Many south-side beaches are experiencing shore break waves, which may affect water clarity. Be mindful of the conditions when entering and exiting the ocean. With southerly winds picking up, you might see clouds forming as the day goes on.
