Honoring Veterans Day with gratitude to all who served. It’s a blustery morning around Maui with large surf continuing out of the north and a smaller south swell. The South Shore has the calmest areas early, but conditions remain rough overall and can change quickly.

Northwest: 0.5

Extremely dangerous ocean conditions. Huge waves, strong currents, and undertow continue, with surf crashing high onto the shoreline. Conditions will remain hazardous all day with powerful wind and showers at times. Please stay well back from the water.

Ka'anapali: 1.5

Powerful waves and very strong currents continue. Waves are a little smaller close to the south face of Black Rock, though the current remains extreme especially near the point. Kahekili is rough with strong surges and increasing wind. Mostly sunny, turning choppy and windier this afternoon.

South Shore: 5.5

The surf has picked up a little more. The waves are smallest along the south ends of the Kamaole Beaches, but they’re still breaking and affecting snorkeling. Waves are bigger in Wailea and very dangerous along Makena Beach. Sunshine and light wind early, with very strong wind and choppy conditions expected this afternoon.
