Happy Aloha Friday! Maui is waking up to a beautif Happy Aloha Friday! Maui is waking up to a beautiful morning with mostly sunny skies and lighter winds across the island, although occasional gusts up to 26 mph are still possible. Surf is expected to build today, leading to rough ocean conditions. While waves remain relatively small this morning, they are beginning to increase and will continue building throughout the day, with the potential to become hazardous at some point. It’s a good idea to stay alert, use caution, and plan accordingly.

Northwest: 6.0

Kapalua Bay is nice and clear this morning, though currents become very strong near the points. Avoid swimming too far out. Honolua Bay has some murky water near shore, and waves near the point are affecting snorkeling. Check conditions from the overlook before heading down. Napili Bay is expected to become dangerous later today, and those waves may spill into Kapalua Bay as well.

Ka’anapali: 5.5

Snorkeling conditions look favorable this morning at both Kahekili Beach Park and the south side of Black Rock as waves remain small. Winds are expected to increase later today, making the south side of Black Rock the more sheltered option. Surf is also expected to build through the day, which could make conditions hazardous as the day goes on. Expect plenty of sunshine today, with a chance of scattered showers late in the day.

South Shore: 5.0

Conditions look good this morning along the South Shore at the Kamaole Beaches. Ulua Beach, Makena Landing and Wailea are already seeing some waves and choppier water as the surf builds, so use extra caution in those areas. Conditions are expected to change today as surf builds and things may become hazardous. Expect mostly sunny skies today, with the possibility of afternoon clouds and scattered rain showers.
