Happy Aloha Friday on Maui! Conditions have improved with lighter winds and smaller waves in areas across all three zones. Strong trade winds will persist, affecting each zone at different times throughout the day. Always assess conditions before heading out, as they can change quickly.

Northwest: 6.5

Very strong winds persist today, creating powerful currents further out and rough conditions near and beyond the points. Closer to shore, inside the bays, particularly Kapalua Bay and Honolua Bay, visibility is clear and conditions are looking good this morning, though waves may increase later. There’s a slight chance of showers blowing down from the mountains. Please check conditions before heading out as things can change.

Ka’anapali: 8.0

Light winds and mostly small waves are making for beautiful conditions this morning. Both Kahekili Beach (Airport Beach) and the south face of Black Rock have clear visibility. Still, take care to avoid any waves, even small ones. Afternoon winds may make Kahekili rough, while Black Rock should remain more protected with a calm area near the shoreline. Currents become extremely strong beyond the point, and there’s a slight chance of increasing clouds.

South Shore: 8.5

Mostly small waves, calm winds, and plenty of sunshine this morning. Great conditions, particularly along the south ends of the Kamaole Beaches, Ulua Beach, Makena Landing, and most spots in between. Afternoon winds could pick up enough to create rough seas later. Currents are always very strong in deeper water. Please always assess conditions before heading out, as they can shift throughout the day.
