It’s another beautiful start to the day here on Ma It’s another beautiful start to the day here on Maui! Light trade winds, clear skies, and calm water at some favorite local snorkel spots will make for an excellent day at the beach. Conditions may improve along the South Shore throughout the day as the surf continues to diminish. Check out the snapshots below for more details.

Northwest: 6.0

Honolua Bay is the calmest spot this morning in the Northwest Zone, though surf is slightly elevated and there are patches of murky water to avoid. Kapalua Bay looks rough, with surging waves reaching high up on the beach. Visibility may be very poor. Conditions could improve later in the day as the tide recedes. Currents are strong if you swim too far offshore. Light winds and plenty of sunshine are expected today.

Ka’anapali: 7.5

Kahekili Beach looks excellent this morning, with light winds and a calm ocean. Currents are very strong in deeper water, so use caution. The south face of Black Rock is also looking nice this morning. There are occasional waves along the shoreline, but if you’re careful to avoid them, snorkeling should be good. Expect light winds throughout the day and plenty of sunshine.

South Shore: 6.0

The South Shore has improved from yesterday and should continue to improve throughout the day as the surf begins to decrease. Kamaole Beaches and Ulua Beach are the calmest spots this morning, with the smallest waves. More beach will be exposed later as the tide recedes. Makena and Wailea still have sizable waves to watch out for. Sunshine and light winds today will make for a picture-perfect beach day.
