Maui is seeing waves from both the north and south

Maui is seeing waves from both the north and south today, with varying conditions across the island. Things may start to improve later on, so keep an eye on the live cameras in your emailed report for any changes. Vog from the ongoing eruption on Hawaiʻi Island is causing widespread haze. Northwest: 2.5

Waves and hazardous currents continue across the zone. Kapalua Bay has the smallest waves, though strong currents develop farther out near the point. Conditions remain pretty hazardous overall. Expect hazy sunshine this morning with increasing clouds later.

*Honolua Bay temporarily has no restroom facilities. Please avoid if possible. Do not leave waste in this area.

Ka’anapali: 6.0

Waves are breaking, with some areas seeing bigger sets than others. Kahekili Beach has the smallest waves this morning. The south face of Black Rock is looking okay, though waves are crashing out on the point and currents are stronger than usual along the rock. Take your time watching the water and plan your entry carefully if you go out.

South Shore: 6.0

Surf is up along most of the shoreline, with the calmest spots around Kamaole Beach Park 2 and the south end of Kamaole 1. Waves are more consistent in Wailea and Makena. Conditions could improve later, so it’s worth watching the water for a bit before heading out. Expect hazy sunshine with increasing clouds later.
