It is a rainy day on Maui. It may clear up a bit from time to time, but heavy showers will cause hazardous conditions in the ocean and on land. Pollution from rain runoff is also a concern. Flash floods are expected, and a Flood Warning is in effect.

Northwest: 4.5

Ocean conditions are fairly calm inside Kapalua Bay and Napili Bay this morning. However, it is continuously raining, and the rain is heavy at times. It is best to stay out of the water in consistent rain, especially to avoid areas with streams. Conditions can change very quickly when heavy rain bands pass through. Increasing onshore winds will likely cause rough seas.

Ka’anapali: 5.0

The ocean is pretty calm along Kahekili Beach Park this morning, but it is raining. It is possible it clears up, but heavy rain will pass through from time to time. Winds are also getting stronger. Pollution from the disaster area in Lahaina Town may wash into the ocean, but it likely will not reach most of the Ka'anapali beaches.

South Shore: 4.0

Consistent rainfall is forecasted and will likely cause streams and roads to flood, leading to runoff and debris flowing into the ocean. The ocean is pretty calm, but rain runoff is usually a problem, especially in Kihei. Conditions can change quickly, and floods are possible.
