Happy Aloha Friday on Maui! It should start to clear up as the storm continues to move farther away. Although not as much rain is expected, heavy showers are still possible, and so are flash floods.

Northwest: 4.5

Strong onshore winds are making conditions too rough, and currents are extremely strong. The wind is expected to shift to a more easterly direction sometime. If it does, then the innermost areas of Kapalua Bay and Honolua Bay should improve. So far, the stream at Honolua was not flowing this morning. Scattered showers are likely.

Ka’anapali: 5.0

—> Because of ongoing relief efforts, please be extremely mindful in this zone.

It is too rough this morning, but conditions could improve along Kahekili Beach as the winds should start to shift from onshore to offshore later. Maybe it will calm down enough this afternoon. Expect partly sunny skies with scattered showers from time to time.

South Shore: 4.0

The south ends of Kamaole #1 and #2 are fairly calm this morning. However, there are choppy little waves that are kicking up sand and affecting snorkeling. Conditions may improve this afternoon if the winds stay calm long enough. It is partly sunny with the potential for scattered showers at times.
